Organization

In terms of legal structure, AMBIT is a private non-profit foundation.

The founding members of AMBIT are the Catalan Wood Confederation, the Provincial Wood Federations of Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida and Girona, the Town Council of La Sénia and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona and the Department of Industry of the Catalan Government.

With respect to the foundation’s bylaws, AMBIT’s main objective is promoting the competitiveness of companies through innovation. Its activities benefit companies in the furniture sector and other industries related to interiors located in Catalonia and elsewhere in Spain.

AMBIT’s most senior governance body is the Board of Trustees. The Board’s members are 9 trustees that represent the founding organizations (4 from public authorities and 5 companies) and up to 6 additional companies (11 companies in total) appointed by the Board of Trustees from among AMBIT’s members. For greater operation management, the Board of Trustees distinguishes between two bodies: the Plenary Board and the Delegate Committee.

The chairman of the Board of Trustees is Sr. Marc Barreno, from the company Barinsa-Bariperfil, while the Vice-Chairman is Sr. Carlos Mengual, from the company Ferreteria Mengual and the Secretary is Joan Serra, from ACCIO.

The Plenary Board meets at least once a year and it is responsible for overseeing compliance with the foundation’s objectives and supervising the budget.

The Delegate Committee is in charge of strategic management, operational supervision and providing support for the technical team’s activities. AMBIT’s technical team consists of a director, project managers and technical staff.
